To all my friends out there selling today, I’m gonna let you off the hook:
Stop putting so much pressure on your sales calls!!
Way too often I see people going into these calls as if its a life-and-death situation.
They seem to think everything’s riding on their performance.
But the honest truth is there is only one main objective of every sales call. And that is to get to the next call.
Some of you people are trying to get married, when you should be just friends.
Others are spilling way too much tea on the table (is that how kids use that phrase??), and you’re freakin’ everybody out!
So let this be your official permission to cut yourself some slack.
Look through your upcoming calls this week and ask “Who am I feeling nervous about? Why?”
Then wipe the board clean.
Instead, focus on only the very next step you need this person to take with you. Agree to a demo call. Look at your pricing. Sign that damn NDA already!!
We’re gonna move folks down the pipeline in several nice little steps—not a few huge leaps!
